What are the benefits of a 13mm crimp serum vial VS a 20mm crimp serum vial?
QCVIALZ has the answers to your questions!
Many customers are unaware that a smaller 13mm crimp finish is available for vials larger than 2ml and 3ml.
In the above image, vials A & B are 10ml and 5ml vials that have a 13mm crimp finish, whereas vials C & D
are vials that have a 20mm crimp finish.
A: 10ml vial with a 13mm crimp neck finish
B: 5ml vial with a 13mm crimp neck finish
C: 5ml vial with a 20mm crimp neck finish
D: 10ml vial with a 20mm crimp neck finish
IMPORTANT: Crimp finish on a serum vial is determined by the outside diameter of the vial rim -
NOT the inside of the hole opening! See the images below:

CONSIDERATIONS & BENEFITS
- A smaller crimp finish will facilitate the easier use of a smaller diameter needle for withdrawl of vial contents via syringe
- If you are usually using smaller 2ml and 3ml vials, a 10ml vial with a 13mm crimp finish can use the same seals and stoppers
- Reduces the amount of variable sized seals, stoppers and crimpers to keep overhead costs down
